Definitions of important metals within construction

Metal Channel
A metal channel is a roll formed metal strip that has been shaped into a tube or a U, J, or C shape for industrial and manufacturing use.
Example: Light gauge and cold formed
es: Canal Metálico
null
Metal Decking
is corrugated metal sheeting that's used as a structural roof deck or composite floor deck.
Example: Sometimes it isn,t covered with concrete and just spans between secondary roof framing members and supports the roof insulation and roofing materials
es: Tarima metálica
null
Metal framing
Metal framing usually refers to cold-formed, light gauge studs, channels and other shapes.
Example: Metal framing can be structural if it is engineered.
es: Encuadre metalico
null
Metal grating
Bar Grating material types include Aluminum, Carbon Steel, Powder Coated Carbon Steel, Galvanized Steel and Stainless Steel.
Example: We also supply a hexagonally clinched product referred to as HEXMESH™ which is commonly used as a liner in concrete structural shapes to help prevent cracking.
es: reja del metal
null
Metal panel
Metal panel is a general term describing any flat, thin sheet of metal.
Example: It can be any type of metal (stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, etc)
es: Panel de metal
null
Metal rod
metals and alloys designed in the pattern of round bars or rod, rectangular or flat bars, square bars, hexagons, and other patterns of bar stock.
Example: These shapes also come in billet form and generally include a cross-section based on the shape of rod or bar stock.
es: Varilla metálica
null
Metal roofing
a roofing system made from metal pieces or tiles characterized by its high resistance, impermeability and longevity.
Example: It is a component of the building envelope. Zinc, copper and steel alloys are commonly used.
es: Techos metálicos
null
Metal stud
Structural metal stud framing refers to the construction of walls and planes using cold-formed steel components.
Example: There are two main components of metal stud framing, a stud and a track. Heavier gauge metal studs are used in load bearing walls and structural applications such as exterior walls.
es: Perno de metal
null
Metal tubing
is made of metallic elements or alloys and is designed for specific industrial applications.
Example: Compared to other types of tubing, metal tube is stronger and most robust, making it better suited for structural applications and high-pressure fluid flow.
es: Tubos metálicos
null
Steel angle
is a very common type of steel shape used in construction, machine-building and many other areas.
Example: A steel angle is an L-shaped profile manufactured by section rolling mills or bending machines.
es: Ángulo de acero
null
Steel beam
is a structural steel product that is made to support heavy loads.
Example: Steel beams come in different sizes and types, hence their different applications in the construction of structures and buildings.
es: Viga de acero
null
Steel column
is a vertical structure member used in construction to provide essential support.
Example: They may carry loads in compression or they may transfer loads from things like beams, ceilings, floor slabs or roof slabs to floors or foundations.
es: Columna de acero
null
Steel Framing
Steel framing is a general term.
Example: It could be structural or non-structural shapes.
es: estructura de acero
null
Steel joist
are open web lightweight steel trusses consisting of parallel chords and a triangulated web system, proportioned to span between bearing points.
Example: There are five main components: a top chord, bottom chord, end web, bearing seat, and interior web members.
es: Vigueta de acero
null
Steel member
is a structural steel product that is made to support heavy loads.
Example: Steel beams come in different sizes and types, hence their different applications in the construction of structures and buildings.
es: Miembro de acero
null
Steel plate
or structural steel is simply steel sheet material that can be customarily cut and welded to develop a more elaborate product.
Example: It is made by compressing multiple steel layers together into one; forming a plate of steel.
es: Placa de acero
null
Steel reinforcement
is a steel bar or mesh of steel wires used in reinforced concrete and masonry structures to strengthen and hold the concrete in tension.
Example: Hence these structures form steel reinforced cement concrete structure (R.C.C). Steel reinforcement is commonly called as 'rebars'.
es: Refuerzo de acero
null
Steel reinforcing
is a steel bar or mesh of steel wires used in reinforced concrete and masonry structures to strengthen and hold the concrete in tension.
Example: Plain concrete does not easily withstand tensile and shear stresses caused by wind, earthquakes, vibrations, and other forces and is therefore unsuitable in most structural applications.
es: Refuerzo de acero
null
Steel Rod
placed in the lower portion of a concrete slab prevent that slab from cracking when subjected to that tensile bending force.
Example: Construction Process Planning and Management
es: Varilla de acero
null
Steel sections
are the bread and butter of steel fabrication.
Example: Designers, architects and engineers choose different sections for their aesthetics and structural qualities – their choices determined by size, weight and profile.
es: Secciones de acero
